Victor Hugo once said that "music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent".
.
I have a few favourite artists/bands that I have found that make me feel the music when I need it.
Sarah McLachlan for instance, I can listen to certain songs when I am sad or upset and they instantly make me feel better. I can't possibly list them as I would be here thinking about each and every song. Her music no matter what my mood, always makes me feel better.
Our Lady Peace is the same, any song makes me think about what I am really feeling. When they come on the radio in the car I zone out (if I am not driving) and I sing out loud or in my head but it makes me remember a time when that song helped me get through some of my roughest spots in life.
I think for me I have never over analyzed the lyrics. I never tried to figure out what the song means by its lyrics. To me, music is how I feel about the songs, what I get from the music. Two different people get different things from the same song.
Some days, I can hear a song and I am in a lousy mood and I pick out the bad stuff in the song and I can relate to it on that day. That very same song I can hear it a few days later and I can be in a really good mood, I will pick out the really positive stuff.
Tomorrow it's another photo of me and a friend. ;)
