30 Day Blog Challange - Day 3

Today it is pet peeves, I try not to let little things bother me but some do....obviously.  Here are my top 6.  It was 5 until I stated writing this post and everyone in my house busted into my office talking to me all at once.  I need a lock on the door.

6. People not knocking or saying excuse me to catch my attention (especially when I am at home).

When I am in my office, I am usually working and I have a rule that no one under any circumstances may enter while I am working unless the house is on fire.  I am one of those people who need to keep my surroundings exactly the way I need to in order to work.  Interruptions bother me because then I loose my train of though and I never get it back.  I need a lock...

5.  Surprises.

I hate surprises. Period.  God or bad, I don't like them.  I wish I did but I have had too many bad surprises mainly for Christmas - Santa aka my mom never seemed to get it right with gifts she still doesn't sadly.  I need to okay any gift ideas birthday or Christmas.  I have to make a list of Sara approved items any my love ones to choose from they each get a different list.  Generally it is photography or baking stuff but this year the Kobo Vox is on it, however, I am really disappointed if they stray thinking I would prefer something else.  I really don't.  I think long and hard into what I want/need for Christmas that when I don't get even one thing, it sucks.  I am starting to dislike Christmas. (*as a side note, I know what I am getting this year and it is perfect!!*)

4. People who leave the last drop

When anyone leaves a little milk/juice in the bottom of the container which equals to less than a sip.  Really?  What am I to do with it?

In the same pet peeve, people who eat or use the last of something and don’t put it on the shopping list.  Don’t expect me to buy if I didn’t know.  Again, I am not a mind reader.  The thing that bugs me the most is “Where is _____?”  Duh! I didn’t know I had to buy it so it didn’t get jump into the cart as I walked passed it.

3. Unwanted Guests

People who invite themselves over for the weekend or having their families come for the weekend with no discussion.  J puts his hand over the mouth piece on the phone and asks “Hey, Sweetie, what are we doing on December 17?” I respond with, “I have my office Christmas party.  Why?”   J states clearly so that his mom can hear, “My mom is coming down that weekend.”   J tells me this WHILE he is on the phone with his mother and I cannot object otherwise I may hurt her feelings.  UGH!

2.  Stupid/Ignorant/Misinformed People

People who think that my son has diabetes because he ate too much sugar.  Type 1 is not preventable and it is an autoimmune disorder where your body attacks itself causing something to not work the way it is meant to.  In my son’s case, it is his pancreas (and heredity genes) that caused him to have Type 1 Diabetes.  He needs insulin daily and has to check his levels four times a day.  He can still eat sugar and whatever he wants; it just has to be at certain times and at a certain amount.  Type 2 is a whole different disease although it shares the same name the two couldn’t be much more different.

Last but not least, my  number one pet peeve.

1.  Drivers

Pretty much all drivers classify somewhere on my overall pet peeve list so I have included them as one. :)  I know, I am not perfect and I am sure I have done some of these on my list without realizing it at the time and for that I must apologize tho those people.1. Not signalling.  I don't know where you want to go unless you tell me and really, when I honk my horn at you for cutting me off, I am not doing it to be mean.  I am letting you know that you failed to give me ample notice that you want into my lane.

  • Smokers who throw cigarette butts out of the window.  In the summer I drive a convertible and other drivers really don't care about other people or what they drive.  This year (and last year too) I had some a-hole driver flick his butt out the window and have it burn a hole in my back seat.  The top was down obviously.
  • People who "temporarily" park in front of the store with no one waiting in the car. Like really, if you want to "run in for a second" find a parking spot like the rest of us.  We are all "going in for one thing" too. ;)
  • People who drive excessively slow in the fast lane.  Anything under 110 in the fast lane should not be allowed. Everyone should know that the far right lane is for 100-110, the middle lane is for 110-120 and the far left (the fast lane) 120+.  However, I am aware that the Ministry of Transportation who sets the speed on our highways and the police officers who enforce them would not agree with the 120+ but hey, what can ya do.
  •  People who smoke in cars with minors.  Not to mention that it is illegal, it is majorly unhealthy.  Most children are too afraid to say anything to their parents about stuff like that.  I know I was afraid to ask my mother to stop smoking in the car with me and that was 20+ years ago.
  • People who fail to let others in by blocking entrances or other side streets.  There is the odd time that I leave enough space for others to enter and the person behind me honks for me to move up.  Does no one read their Driver’s Handbook anymore?  I still use mine for reference to settle disagreements.  Does that make me strange?
