With the first week of school behind Lil' Man, it seems as though this was the weekend from hell. He woke up early and refused to go back to sleep. 5:15 on a Saturday morning is pushing it. I passed out early on Friday night (around 10pm or so) while watching The Neverending Story on TV with Lil' Man and J and only had 12 hours of sleep since I woke up Tuesday morning as Emmers and I were on our road trip. We got back to Canada at a decent time but I needed to pick up Lil' Man from the school bus at 3:30 so I couldn't sleep cause I knew I wouldn't wake up if I went home.
Saturday was a day of not listening, temper tantrums and just plain grumpiness not to mention him uttering really mean words to me in Zellers which caused me to cancel his evening treat for being a really nice day for the two of us. Let's just say that if I didn't have to bring him and not leave him in a parking lot, I would have. No one talks to me the way he did. Normally for any adult that would result in a bitch fight and never speaking to them again. I was beyond hurt.
Sunday was full of cat naps in the car and getting mad when I stopped at our locations and talking back. He kept complaining that he was tired and I told him I'd lay down with him for a nap but he refused to sleep. I slept for about an hour this afternoon and didn't even hear the door bell ring three times when my ex came to get Lil' Man. Geeze, I must have needed more sleep.
Lil' Man really needs to learn that he won't miss out on anything if he sleeps in. This house doesn't operate until about 10am anyway because that is when I am usually awake enough to start breakfast and the plans for the day. Sometimes, I wish I could drink coffee. Sadly, I am still only loving the smell of it.
Let's see what next weekend brings. Hopefully he is in more of a routine by then and less tired.
How was the first week of school for your kids? Did they start last week or earlier? Are they full-time or part-time?
