It's No Longer a Jungle Out There

We moved into our nightmare new house August 19 and the grass hadn't been cut for a while.

We cut the front yard Thursday evening after talking to our neighbour Scott 'cause I wanted to ask him how far the previous owners cut the grass. As it turns out we cut to the bush which happens to be a good marker as to our lot lines.

There was hardly any gas left in the lawnmower and so J and I decided to go as far as we could before we ran out of gas. As it turns out we got 1/3 of the grass cut and only one tiny one foot strip on the row we were just mowing was the only thing left just as the mower sputtered to a stop.

This morning I woke up bright and early despite the late night tv watching in bed (boy do I miss watching tv while I fall asleep). It was 6:45 when I woke up and wanted to get to work. Oddly enough, I was up before Lil' Man. Lil' Man and I made pancakes and instead of the baking powder he handed me meringue powder I didn't think anything of it until after the first scoop. Oddly enough Lil' Man LOVED the pancakes, J didn't mind them and I did not like them at all. Too chewy for my taste.

Somehow I managed to doddle around until 10 am before starting work on the house. I got the tree trimmer out that I borrowed from my ex and started trimming all of the overhanging branches. There were a few that I had to get J to do when he got back from the gas station with Lil' Man.

After I trimmed the trees (he he, makes me think about Christmas. I can hardly wait for Christmas). I left the branches stay where they fell. Lil' Man's job was to move complain while dragging the branches over to the bush pile while I cut the grass and J cut the other branches.

About half way through his job Lil' Man started complaining that he was tired. What five year old is tired after walking 100 feet? Yeah. He was just lazy and not used to working. His father never makes him help with the yard work. So after he started to scream, cry and throw things refuse to help he was sent to his room until I was down mowing the lawn. An hour and half later. A total of 2.5 hours to mow the lawn.

Now the lawn looks nice and the trees are all trimmed. At least the house looks decent from the outside. The inside is still a disaster.

How long does it take you guys to mow the lawn?
