Last week, I started my Project 365 again. Since I have internet at home again, it makes it much easier.
I got a new lens about two weeks ago and have been playing around with it. It seems to work very well with my TtV device (stolen from Dani). Lil' Man and I were out for a drive the weekend after I got my new lens. BTW, it is a Sigma 70 mm F2.8 EX DG Macro which has a very nice 1:1 ratio.
One of my favourite shots from the weekend was of one of the Canadian Geese that wandered out of the water up the small hill and into the parking lot to join the others. The parking lot in this one particular spot was transformed into a small wading pool for the ducks, geese and other amphibious creatures.
Normally I am not surprised at the discovery of new flowers but when I saw blue Lilacs, I was pleasantly surprised. I have never seen blue before. Purple, yes. Pink, yes. White, yes. Even yellow on the odd occasion.
One of my favourite places in the city to visit is the Cancer Survivors Park on the corner of Industrial and Riverside. After a failed attempt last year with TtV, I decided to go back and try again. I love this park for so many reasons but mainly for the people in my life who I have lost because of Cancer. There are a whole bunch of plaques engraves with inspirational messages plus these beautiful tall flower sculptures.
On Saturday, Lil' Man went to Papanack Zoo with his Beavers group. We saw the Swans, a Momma and a Poppa. The Daddy Swan was much more protective of his future young than the Mother. He was at the fence trying to bite anyone that got too close. Momma Swan stood over the eggs and gave us all the evil eye when she wasn't grooming herself.
Yet another shot from the Papanack Zoo. There was a hand full of chickens just wandering around. This one was half blind. I felt back for him because every time he went into the shade he would cock-a-doodle-do and walk back into the sun. Kind of cute actually.
One of my favourite insects, I'm not sure of they are or aren't incests but just go with it, in the Spring/Summer time are Dragonfly's. There is nothing really spectacular about them other than last year there was a ton and very little mosquitoes and now this year the rolls have be reversed once again. I have so many mosquito bites it isn't funny. After bite is my best friend is carried everywhere. I was in the back yard of my ex-husbands house fighting off the mosquitoes when I saw a Dragonfly zoom past me. I followed it to a few different flowers before I got this shot. It isn't perfect but at least it turned out for the most part.
While in the same backyard, I noticed some yellow Lily's that aren't usually so vibrant because they are hidden by shade most of the time. However, the sun was starting to set and lit the Lily's with some nice back lighting.
I hoped you enjoyed this week in pictures. Stay tuned for next weeks installment.
