Smiles All Around

This Tuesday my Lil' Man brought home his first report card for this year. Well, it is more of a progress for smiley faces, straight faces and sad faces plus it has room at the bottom for places that he needs to improve on.

Lil' Man had smiley faces for everything that they mark in school.

There are some things he needs to work on. Although these are things I think that she might have put for every kid.

1) He needs to improve on his graded books for reading even though he is on Level 2 books going on to Level 3 books. For a kid in Senior Kindergarten, I believe that to be an excellent spot. Most of the other kids in his class are still at Level 1 books.

2) Printing and working on his letters. I remember working on my letters, printing and writing all the way up until grade 5.

I guess I can't complain. My son, just like me and mostly every other kid I grew up with, listens to his teacher but not their parents.

  1. Thanks for visiting "The Tree"! I love that your son's school gives out these progress reports. We've received nothing of the kind so far, but perhaps they're still to come?

It must be hard to grade kids in JK and SK. I mean they don't even HAVE to be there (at school) until Grade 1. My guess would be that most kids probably get smiley faces all around and then the teachers may feel they need to offer some constructive suggestions for improvement.

I hear you on the "listening to the teacher but not the parents" thing too!!!
