Most people wonder why I still do things involving my ex husband. There are two simple reasons. My son and friendship. We though it was important to show our son that even if a marriage doesn't work out that people can still be friends.
With that said. I will continue on with the trip.
7:10 am I receive a text from my ex telling me that they are leaving their place in Smiths Falls. I reply back "I'm up, no need to call me". I proceeded to the shower and then got dressed. For some reason they made it to Ottawa in warp speed. I didn't even get to finish my breakfast. :(
My ex likes schedules more than I do. He is very square that way. Since I needed to brush my teeth, put stuff in the car AND run back for my chapstick. It help put us almost 15 minutes behind schedule. That added to the three other 15 minutes pee and coffee breaks for my son and my ex, we were over an hour behind schedule. We were supposed to get to the zoo for 11 am but we got there shortly after noon.
I am glad that we finally made it too the zoo. All of the other times we attempted to go (once) it was POURING. Once we got there we stopped for yet another pee break. Honestly, I think both of their bladders shrunk. It was gray and very overcast. I was worried that it would rain on us the whole time. I brought my rain jacket in case it rained. I love my camera too much to get it wet. Even just a little.
Here are some of my favourite pictures from the zoo.
A tiger taking a much needed break from the hundreds of people who look at him from my side of the glass everyday.
I happened to catch a flamingo on both legs at once.
"What are you lookin' at?"
We HAD to stop at the gift shop because my son wanted to go. I picked up a small gift for my girl friend who is going away to basic training for the Canadian Air Force in November.
Once we reached the car and had a bite to eat it started to spit. Well at least it held off until we were done at the zoo. That was alright, we were on our way home anyway. The spitting rain turned into a a torrential downpour and we almost hydroplaned off the highway. Despite the fact that we were only going 70km/h. There were some dip shits that were tailgating and speeding despite the heaviness of the rain. We saw a bunch of bikers who took a break under different bridges along the highway. Who could blame them. It was one of those rains that you are drenched two second into it.
We made it into Montreal and made it through all the traffic on the 15N to the 40O headed to Ottawa. Guess what, my ex turned off the GPS for some reason and we ended up missing the break in the highway where the 40 turns to go to Ottawa. What a clown. Out of all the times we have been to Montreal he misses the turn? I turned on the GPS and programmed it to go to my place. It took us on a very nice scenic back way to the 40 again. At least we didn't get too lost.
All in all yesterday was a good day. I saw two VW Cabrios. One was black and the other was beige. I have yet to see one my colour. ;)
